OpusClip alternative: the honest answer is “by job”

Main topic: OpusClip alternative · Facts checked 5 November 2026 — prices change, so re-check the official page before acting on them.

Last checked: 5 November 2026

Short answer: there is no complete OpusClip alternative, because no other tool copies its auto-finding plus virality score in one package. What exists is a best pick per job: Vizard for the most minutes per dollar, Klap when you keep few clips from long videos, Quso for clips plus scheduling, Descript for editing by transcript, and CapCut for free styling of clips you choose yourself. All prices on this page checked 5 November 2026 — prices change, so check the official pricing page before you pay.

Why the billing unit matters more than the brand

OpusClip, Vizard and Quso charge per minute of source video: 1 credit is 1 minute of the video you upload. A 60-minute podcast costs 60 credits even if you keep only 2 clips — the minutes you throw away are still billed. Klap charges per clip instead: the same 60-minute video kept as 2 clips costs 2 clips of your allowance. Descript bills media minutes plus AI credits, and CapCut is a subscription with no clip or minute meter at all. Before you compare brands, compare billing units against your own habit: long videos and few kept clips favour Klap; many kept clips and high volume favour Vizard.

The five alternatives, by job

  • Most minutes per dollar → Vizard Creator ($29/month, $14.50/month billed yearly, from the search-index rendering of its official pricing page — verify before paying; from 600 credits a month, 4K export on paid plans).
  • Few clips from long videos → Klap Basic ($29/month, $14.50/month billed yearly, pricing page updated 4 November 2026; 100 clips a month, source videos up to 3 hours).
  • Clips plus scheduling → Quso Lite ($29/month, 100 credits a month; billed-annually total $348 — exactly 12× monthly, no discount shown).
  • Edit by transcript → Descript (Hobbyist: 10 media hours and 400 AI credits a month, 1080p; paid prices did not render on the official pricing page, so check descript.com/pricing).
  • Free styling → CapCut ($0 editor; Pro $19.99/month). CapCut does not find moments for you — it styles the ones you pick.

What you lose, whichever you pick

Every pick above costs you the same thing: OpusClip’s auto-finding and virality score. Vizard finds highlights its own way, Quso and Klap automate differently, and Descript and CapCut make you choose every cut. If the finding itself is your job — paste a long video in, get scored clips out — you are not looking for a cheaper OpusClip, you are looking at a different kind of work. The kit’s job quiz and job checker show exactly what survives that change, job by job.

Questions people ask

Is Vizard cheaper than OpusClip?

At headline price, no — both are $29 a month, or $14.50 a month billed yearly. Vizard is cheaper per minute: Creator gives from 600 credits a month against OpusClip Pro’s 300 credits (OpusClip blog). The Vizard figures come from the search-index rendering of its official pricing page, so verify in a live browser before paying.

Does Klap have a free plan?

No. Klap offers one free trial video with no card, but it is preview and edit only — downloading or posting the clips needs a paid plan. Its own FAQ (updated 4 November 2026) also says Klap does not publish promo codes.

Which OpusClip alternative is free?

CapCut’s free editor is the only genuinely usable free route, and only for styling clips you choose yourself. Vizard (60 credits a month) and Quso (75 credits a month) have free tiers, but both are watermarked at 720p. OpusClip’s own free tier watermarks exports and deletes them after 3 days.
